I’m Joanne Parkes, proud owner of Your Local Mortgage Professionals.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I love helping people fulfill their dreams of homeownership. I started out as a personal banker with a major bank, at the same time I helped people with their investments; while playing both these roles, I found myself drawn to mortgages. When the opportunity of becoming a mortgage associate presented itself, I jumped at it and never looked back. I love what I am doing!

I have been in this business for fifteen years. Previously, I worked at multiple banks. Before moving into the banking industry I was self-employed for sixteen years, my husband and I owned and operated several different businesses at the time.

Over the past couple of years, I have noticed that business has definitely changed but not for the better. Initially, I felt lenders were more focused on making a deal work to help people achieve homeownership. However, with the current mortgage rules in place, there are so many more challenges to getting a mortgage approved.

I love working with people and meeting new clients. I feel a large part of my job is education, as there are certain aspects of applying for a mortgage that are quite important, such as creditworthiness and whether you are self-employed or not. I believe in providing the best customer experience to every client regardless of the size of the mortgage and their situation. Many times clients cannot be approved the first time around, so I feel the right advice at the right time will make them seek me out when the time is right.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others are my values of honesty, integrity, and timeliness. I also believe that we should treat everyone as we would like to be treated and not judge others. We might have to “walk a mile” in someone else’s shoes someday, so we need to empathize.

Over the past few years, I have derived immense satisfaction each time I help someone in any way or guide them in the right direction. I attribute my success to my overall life experiences and valuing every client.

The most rewarding aspect of my job is the work flexibility that allows me more family time. I am a mother and grandmother, so my family keeps me busy. I also love gardening and any form of outdoor exercise. I usually indulge myself with these little things when I am not at work.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
